Research Interest Groups (RIG) offer the opportunity to engage in lively discussions with colleagues in your area of musculoskeletal research. RIGs foster the thoughtful exchange of ideas and forge collaborative partnerships.

Articular Cartilage Repair

Monday, March 20
6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Room 5AB

Organizers: Daniel A. Grande, PhD, The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research; Jos Malda, PhD, UMC Utrecht, Netherlands; Lawrence Bonassar, PhD, Cornell University; Lucienne Vonk, PhD, UMC Utrecht, Netherlands; Lisa Fortier, DVM, PhD, Cornell University

The articular cartilage repair RIG will be a platform for introducing new concepts and studies in the field of articular cartilage repair.  This will include the use of cell based approaches, biomaterials, 3-D bioprinting, surgical techniques, gene therapy, growth factors, to name but a few of the many variants being explored in vitro, pre-clinical, and clinical across the globe.

Growth Factors

Monday, March 20
6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Room 3

Organizer: Henning Madry, MD, Saarland University

The growth factor research interest group is designed to disseminate the latest advances in growth factor research and its role in the study of musculoskeletal tissues. The meeting is open to all scientists and clinicians with an interest in repair, regeneration and development of these tissues.

Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Bio-Imaging in Orthopaedics

Tuesday, March 21
11:45 AM – 12:45 PM
Room 7AB

Organizers: Tolou Shokuhfar, PhD, University of Illinois at Chicago; Bingyun Li, PhD, West Virginia University

This will be the inaugural meeting of the Biomaterials, Biomechanics, Osseointegration, and Bioengineering and is open to all ORS 2017 Annual Meeting attendees. This RIG aims to engage clinicians, scientists and industry experts to strengthen knowledge and interest in orthopaedic biomaterials, biomechanics, osseointegration, bioimaging, and bioengineering.

If you are interested in hosting a RIG, please contact Brenda Frederick, ORS Executive Director at frederick@ors.org, 847-430-5020.

Meeting space is limited and requests are processed in the order they are received. RIGs are NOT considered official ORS programming and therefore must not conflict with educational sessions.

The ORS does not provide funding for RIGs.
