Active: Membership is based on previous scientific contributions and continued participation in the field of research. Requirements: 1) Presentation of a paper at an ORS Annual Meeting or Publication of two peer-reviewed journal papers related to orthopaedic research. 2) Two ORS sponsor signatures on application or letters of recommendation.
Associate: (Student) memberships is available to trainees in the area of orthopaedic research, individuals who are pursuing advanced degrees (e.g. MD, DDS, DO, PhD, DVM) or in post-doctoral clinical and research training programs (residency and fellowship.) Expected to apply for Active membership once training is completed. Requirements: 1) Two ORS sponsor signatures on application or letters of recommendation. 2) A signature on application or letter from your Advisor/Dean or Chair verifying your student/training status.
Affiliate: Membership is available to lab technicians, practice administrators/managers, educators and industry representatives that make a significant scientific and/or non-scientific contribution to orthopaedic research and the ORS. Requirements: 1) Applicant must have two institutional sponsors who must write a letter of recommendation and include scientific and/or non-scientific contribution of the applicant. 2) Must have attended one or more ORS Annual Meeting.
**Emeritus: The status of Emeritus Members shall be conferred upon individuals as follows: Any Active Member who has retired and is sixty-five (65) years of age or older, and has been an Active Member in the Society for at least fifteen (15) years, or under special circumstance. All requests to be made to the Secretary. Final approval will be determined by the Board of Directors. E-mail your request to ors@ors.org.
***Active Members may server as Moderator or Reviewer. Affiliate Members may serve on Corporate Affairs Committee. Associate members may serve as Ad Hoc members of certain committees.
