Annual Dues and Benefits of Membership
Applications for membership are accepted year round. The Membership Committee reviews applications quarterly: March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15. Applicants are notified about the Membership Committee's decision within 4 weeks of the review date. If you are planning to attend the ORS Annual Meeting, your completed membership application must be received in the ORS office by December 15 to obtain the reduced meeting registration rate. Applications received between September 15 and December 15 will be reviewed and billed for the following calendar year. If approved, these applicants will be eligible to obtain the reduced meeting registration rate. Applications received after December 15 will be reviewed for acceptance following the Annual Meeting.

Benefits of Active Membership
Active Members are elected to the Society based on previous scientific contributions and continued participation in the field of research. Active members pay annual dues of $220 which includes the following benefits:

  • CD-ROM of the Transactions of the Annual Meeting
  • Free subscription to the Journal of the Orthopaedic Research (12 issues annually)

Benefits of Associate Membership
Associate membership is available to trainees in the area of orthopaedic research, including individuals who are pursuing advanced degrees (e.g., M.D., D.M.D, D.D.S., D.O., M.S., M.Ph., Ph.D., D.Sc., D.V.M.) or in post-doctoral clinical and research training programs (Residency and Fellowship). Associate Members must verify their training status in the field of orthopaedic research in order to be elected to the Society. Associate members pay annual dues of $50 which includes the following benefits:

  • CD-ROM of the Transactions of the Annual Meeting
  • ORS Society Newsletter and E-News

Associate members are expected to apply for Active membership when the training of the individual is completed. Here's how to apply for Membership.

  • Enclose letters of recommendation by regular mail or email, ors@ors.org, from two members of the society, or obtain signatures of two ORS members on your application form. Note that the two letters of recommendation may also be forwarded to the address below by the authors of the letters--you are not required to submit all materials at the same time.

    Enclose a check (payable to ORS) in the amount of $245 US for Active membership or $50 US for Associate membership, as an application fee.

    Applicants for Active membership must include a check, Visa or MasterCard with expiration date, in the amount of $245 US made payable to ORS as an application fee. Applicants for Associate membership must include a check, Visa or MasterCard with expiration date, in the amount of $50 US made payable to ORS as first year membership dues.

    Explanation of Application Fee
    If you are accepted as an Active member
    of the Society, $220 US of the application fee will be applied toward your first year's dues. Dues are $220 US per year.

    If you are accepted as an Associate member of the Society $50 US of the application fee will be applied toward your first year's dues. Dues are $50 US per year.
