Meeting Information and Schedules

Annual Meeting Location
The 53rd Annual Meeting of the Orthopaedic Research Society will be held at the San Diego Convention Center, in San Diego, California, Sunday, February 11, through Wednesday, February 14, 2007.

The ORS/AAOS Combined Day will take place on Wednesday, February 14, 2007.

Dear Fellow ORS Members and Guests:

On behalf of the Orthopaedic Research Society, the Program Committee, and the Topic Committee Chairs, it is an honor and a privilege to welcome you to the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Orthopaedic Research Society.  We have again had an outstanding response from our membership in numbers of abstract submission, and have an excellent diversity of scientific material on the program for this year’s meeting.  The inclusion of the Topic Chair structure in the abstract review and construction of sessions has greatly improved the quality of the scientific review process as well as the content cohesiveness of the sessions.

Due to popularity of the short talk sessions, we have continued this format addition to the program, and have tried to ensure adequate discussion time for interaction among attendees and presenters.  We are also piloting a new approach in one set of concurrent sessions on Tuesday, which will include an overview presentation as introductory material at the beginning of the session.  This will include a perspective on the clinical relevance of the research topics in the session.  The subsequent presentations in these sessions will be shortened, enabling presenters to focus on the experimental data, and decrease necessity for background material.

The venue in San Diego for our meeting is outstanding, as the concurrent session rooms, poster areas, and exhibits are all contiguous and on the same floor.  This will make it easier than ever to move between sessions and other functions during the meeting, and should also enhance ability for all attendees to interact with one another.  The Workshop and Combined Symposium format will be similar to last year, with again a total of 8 Workshops during the program, and excellent content diversity and quality.

Space constraints unfortunately require us to use a portion of the exhibit hall area needed by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons meeting for poster display, which means the posters will have to come down earlier on Tuesday.  However, we have adjusted the program so that the total poster viewing time will be similar to past meetings.  This was a compromise that enabled us to have all posters in a single session on display for nearly the entire meeting time.

I look forward to welcoming you in San Diego, and believe we have an outstanding venue and scientific content that you will find very exciting.

Sincerely,

Randy N. Rosier, MD, PhD
Chair, 2007 ORS Program Committee
