General Instructions
- Authors will submit two files, a "blinded" and an "unblinded" abstract in the final, 2-column format required by the ORS.
- An unblinded abstract includes authors, affiliations, acknowledgements and references. A blinded abstract does not include authors, affiliations, acknowledgements and references. Blinded abstracts are required for the peer review.
- Please read the Submission Instructions for Authors which you will see once you are logged into the online system; each step of the online submission includes instructions.
- Manuscript Central allows you to create a draft submission today and then come back to the system and pick up where you left off before submitting the final abstract. Authors can even recall-to-draft a final submission for further editing anytime up to the close date.
- Manuscript Central will convert your files into PDF files if needed. You will be asked to review your final abstracts.
- Please review your final PDF format and check to make certain that page size, margins and fonts all comply with the requirements. Also make certain that it is displayed as you wish it to appear. The abstract template must be used without modification to ensure compliance with all formatting guidelines.
- Verify that the title and authors on the abstract match the title and authors submitted on the front pages of the online submission.
- Make sure this copy is saved to your hard drive and then proceed to create your blinded abstract. You may consider using the phrase "unblinded" in the file name to eliminate confusion when uploading both documents.
- To edit a submitted abstract before the August 31 deadline, send an e-mail to orsabstracts@ors.org with your name, title of the abstract and abstract submission number indicating you want to make an edit. ORS staff will "unsubmit" your abstract and you will receive an e-mail from the online system instructing you to go back in, make changes to the online pages, and resubmit both your "blinded" and "unblinded" abstracts. Once the online system closes on August 31, authors will have to wait until the acceptance notices are sent before making any edits to the abstract.
- Work which has been accepted for publication prior to the 56th Annual Meeting is not acceptable for submission. If you choose to submit your abstract to the ORS knowing you have submitted the same work for publication, the deadline to withdraw is Monday, December 7.
