Meet the Mentors Luncheon
The “Meet the Mentors” luncheon is designed to provide advice to young investigators and researchers on how to consider issues related to establishing an independent research career and balancing competing demands in the academic and corporate environments. The discussions will also focus on the importance of identifying mentors and describing the roles and function of a mentor. Two individuals recognized as experienced and successful mentors will be at each table. Attendees will be assigned to tables based on their areas of interest. (An e-mail will be sent to attendees in February requesting their area of interest.) The sessions are intended to be informal, interactive, and designed for all to actively participate in the discussions. Mentors are from North America.Potential topics include:
- Selecting mentors
- What mentors do to assist junior faculty and team members
- Writing your first grant
- Departmental status for clinician scientists
