ORS is seeking candidates for the following positions:
- ORS 2nd Vice President (President-Elect) – Biologist (4-year term)
- Member-at-Large (2-year term)
- Treasurer-Elect (4-year term; 1 as Treasurer-Elect, 3 as Treasurer)

Requirement
Candidates should be ORS members in good standing and served and actively participated within the last five (5) years on the ORS Board of Directors.
Attributes
Strategic and collaborative leadership, excellent communication, familiarity with, and support of the ORS 2020 vision. Well-respected in the ORS research community. Support from your organization/institution. By tradition, the scientific background of the candidate for this position should be in the broad area of biology (rotating every three years with clinician, engineer).
Role of the Vice Presidents
Vice Presidents (1st and 2nd) shall perform such duties and have such powers as prescribed by the President and shall serve for a term of one (1) year. Further, in the absence of the President or in the event of his or her inability or refusal to act, the 1st Vice President shall perform the duties of the President and, when so acting, shall have all the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the President. The Vice Presidents will serve on the many committees as non-voting members throughout their term to familiar themselves with the full scope of the Society and in preparation for serving in their role as President. The President will serve as the Chair of the ORS Executive Committee and actively participate as a member of the Finance Committee.
Role of the President
The President shall be the principal elected officer of the Society and shall serve for a term of one (1) year. Subject to the direction and control of the Board of Directors, the President shall preside at meetings of the Society and of the Board of Directors. S/He shall also, at the annual meeting of the Society and at such other times as S/He shall deem proper, communicate to the Board of Directors or the Society such matters and make such suggestions as may in his/her opinion tend to promote the welfare and increase the usefulness of the Society. The President will serve as the Chair of the ORS Executive Committee and actively participate as a member of the Finance Committee
Length of term
The elected 2nd Vice President will serve over a four (4) year period; 2nd VP, 1st VP, President, and Past President. The candidate elected during this election will serve as the ORS President, February 2020 to February 2021.

It is recommended that officers of the ORS not serve on the Board of Directors for a similar organization during their term.

Strong financial and analytical skills and understanding of financial statements, operating budgets, and investment strategies. Good communication skills- an ability to process and distill complex data into words that are understandable to intelligent, but busy people. Ability to work with others, including financial partners, and ORS professional staff. Support from your organization/institution.
Role
The Treasurer shall remain fully advised as to the financial condition of the Society and shall regularly report to the Board of Directors on the financial conditions of the Society and the adequacy of the accounting records of the Society. The Treasurer will serve as the Chair of the ORS Finance Committee, and a member of the ORS Executive Committee. The Treasurer will provide a summary of the financial conditions of the ORS to the membership at the annual meeting.
Length of term
The elected Treasurer-Elect will serve for a period of four (4) years, commencing March 2018 as the Treasurer Elect, March 2019 – February 2022 as the Treasurer.
The new Treasurer shall be elected at the end of the incumbent Treasurer’s second year in office. During the third year of the incumbent term, the Treasurer-Elect shall sit as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors.

The elected Member-at-Large will serve March 2018 to February 2020.
