Call for Abstracts

You are invited to submit an abstract to the ORS 47th International Musculoskeletal Biology Workshop at Sun Valley:  Modern Methodologies and Novel Therapies. 

Two types of young investigator awards are available to help support travel of students, fellows and junior investigators (i.e. those at or below the level of Assistant Professor); Alice L. Jee Award and Osteoarthritis Award. In addition, there will also be several Blue Ribbon Poster Presentations.

Deadlines for Abstract Submissions:

Award/Podium Abstract Submission Deadline: April 24, 2017
Blue Ribbon Poster Abstract Submission Deadline: June 5, 2017
Poster Only Abstract Submission Deadline: June 28, 2017

Eligibility: Student, fellow, young investigator up to and including Assistant Professor. For under-represented minority applicants for the Jee Award, candidates of any age or experience level are encouraged to apply.

Awards: Up to 15 Jee Awards at $1,000 each to offset travel, with a minimum of 5 awards reserved for under-represented minorities, as defined below.  Award winners are required to stay at the Sun Valley Resort in order to receive their monetary award.

Recognition: Some of the Jee Award Recipients may have the opportunity to present their work from podium if the work is closely related to one of the session topics.

Under-Represented Minority eligibility: • Terminal Graduate Degree (PhD, MD, DVM) • Minority candidate (as defined in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commissions Regulations, 29 C.F.R. Part 1602 i.e. Native American or Alaska Native, Asian or Pacific Islander, African-American or Black or Hispanic) • Might be in academia, industry, or government as long as their work is related in some manner to scientific research in the broad field of musculoskeletal biology.

Recognition: Recipient of this award will have the honor to present a poster.

If you are interested in applying for any of these awards, you will need to submit your abstract by April 24, 2017.

Award recipients will be notified by Thursday, May 25, 2017.

All award recipients are eligible for reduced registration rates. ORS member award recipients will pay $100.00 to register. ORS non-member award recipients will pay a $175.00 fee to register. Award/Podium Abstract Submission Deadline: June 5, 3017

A number of abstracts will be selected to give a Blue Ribbon Presentation.  Presenters will have 3-minutes to present their work, followed by 1-minute discussion.  Slide format will include a title slide with no more than 3 additional slides.  These presentations are simply to engender interest in the poster, not to present all the data.  People with more detailed questions can visit the poster.
