Symposium Highlights
Over 100 people attended the event with people coming from Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Galveston and as far away as Socorro, New Mexico. Over 40 posters were presented covering a wide range of musculoskeletal topics. Awards were presented for poster and podium presentations, wherein the graduate and post-doctoral presentations were of such high quality it was difficult for the judges to pick winners. Dr. Johnny Huard gave an outstanding keynote touching on the challenges faced in aging and stem cell directed repair.
Response to the meeting was very positive. For example, one (anonymous) attendee stated, “I really appreciated having a forum of peers to share information with before a larger arena such as the ORS Annual Meeting. Especially for beginning-career-scientists/physicians, events like this help us have a better understanding of the interactions we might expect at national/international meetings.
