Rick Sumner, PhD

Rick Sumner, PhD, serves as a basic science department chair at Rush University Medical Center. He has more than 35 years of NIH funding as a principal investigator on research, training and instrumentation grants. He and his colleagues continue to study bone, now focusing on the genetics of bone regeneration and the skeletal consequences of preterm birth. In addition to the ORS, he has served as the president of the American Association for Anatomy, the International Society for Bone Morphometry, and the Association of Anatomy, Cell Biology and Neurobiology Chairpersons.
