Award Overview
The Philadelphia Spine Research Society (PSRS) and the Orland Bethel Family Musculoskeletal Research Center (BMRC) have joined together to offer a Travel Award for the 2026 8th International PSRS Meeting. The BMRC/PSRS Travel Award will support three trainees (graduate students, postdocs) attending the PSRS meeting to present their research. The BMRC/PSRS Travel Award will fully cover registration costs at the shared room rate ($1,350) and up to $300 in travel costs.
Graduate student and postdoc trainees will have the opportunity to apply to be considered for the BMRC/PSRS Travel Award during the abstract submission process. Applicants will be prompted to provide a brief statement describing why they should be selected for this Travel Award. We are dedicated to improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in musculoskeletal research. Trainees who are underrepresented in medicine or STEM fields, and those that are first-time attendees to PSRS are encouraged to apply. The Awards Committee will take these responses into consideration along with the quality of the abstract submission in selecting Awardees.
Awardees will be invited to the next BMRC Research Symposium, following the PSRS Meeting. BMRC Symposiums are held in September annually.
About the BMRC
The Orland Bethel Family Musculoskeletal Research Center (BMRC) was created in 2024 by the Orland Bethel Family Foundation’s gift, matched by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. The BMRC enables the University of Pittsburgh to elevate its study of musculoskeletal disorders, including bone and muscular diseases, degenerative arthritis, fragility fractures, spinal pathology, cartilage and tendon pathology by attracting and retaining top scientists to advance leading-edge research. The BMRC prioritizes support of early career scientists, both within and outside of the University of Pittsburgh, to produce breakthrough treatments for musculoskeletal ailments.
